When a great/interesting song crosses my path or pops back into my head and I feel like posting it, I always do a quick check to see if it has been posted before. In my head, I was sure that this had appeared previously…but it turns out it was this post by @[email protected].
This track could claim to be the official song of the Community, maybe.

>Beat Happening was an American indie pop band formed in Olympia, Washington, in 1982. Calvin Johnson, Heather Lewis, and Bret Lunsford have been the band's continual members. Beat Happening were early leaders in the American indie pop and lo-fi movements, noted for their use of primitive recording techniques, disregard for the technical aspects of musicianship, and songs with subject matters of a carefree or coy nature.

A New England was a Top Ten single for Kirsty MacColl in 1985. Billy Bragg wrote a couple of extra verses for the song just for Kirsty. Written by Billy Bragg in 1983, this song appeared on Bragg's album Life's A Riot With Spy Vs Spy. It remains one of his signature songs. Kirsty McColl covered this for indie label Stiff, in 1985, with some added lyrics written by Bragg for her version.
Kirsty was the daughter of folk singer Ewan MacColl and was married for a time to record producer Steve Lillywhite (The Pogues, XTC, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Talking Heads etc.) She shared vocals on The Pogues' song Fairytale Of New York.
She tragically died at the age of 41, in 2000.

The Dentists - I Had An Excellent Dream
[1985] https://www.discogs.com/release/1906765-The-Dentists-Some-People-Are-On-The-Pitch-They-Think-Its-All-Over-It-Is-Now
The Dentists originated in Kent in southern England. This track just dripping in jangle with a splash of 60's psychedelia. I missed them when they were an active band, only coming to know them later on.
