Some communities in other instances appear as completely empty (0 posts, 0 subscribers) while they're not
I'm trying to subscribe to communities in other instances but they falsely appear empty. It is not a matter of languages as I see some people suggesting. I have tried choosing English as well as Undetermined without success. Other communities in the same instances appear as they should, without any issues. I have tried from different browsers and even without logging in, fresh browser window, with cleared cache, I open Vlemmy, search for those communities without logging in and I get the same issue. Communities belong to different instances, I can access everything through Lemmy.world although said communities are not in Lemmy.world
That may not be VLemmy's fault. Federation as a whole is having trouble right now, the system is essentially being stress tested. The subscriber count being 0 may reflect the number of VLemmy subscribers, I can't tell if those counts are local or not. In terms of federation being resolved, I think this is just a case where we have to wait for the admins to come to a solution.
I am having this same issue with [email protected]. If I log into lemmy.world I can see there are posts in that community but when I access it from this account I can't see any posts. I tried the language and site data clearing as well and nothing helped. I will add that I am not on vlemmy, I just found this post when I was looking around for this issue and thought I'd chime in.
You can add an exclamation mark in front of a lemmy-style community link so that it automatically converts it to a link (similar to typing "r/sub" in reddit instead of just "sub".
