COVID messed me up. screwed up my heart and lungs. So I'm considering making my own device. Could be an e-bike (would be the easiest) a scooter (either push or mobility, probably an amalgamation of both.)
I'm 330 lbs. and want to make something that can have ideally 150km range. (it will probably be much, much less)
I was thinking of making a dual motor sitting electric scooter. and using a huge lifepo battery. Like 300AH huge. Hence the need for a custom frame and using 2 1000W scooter hub motors.
OR
Going with a 2000W electric motor drive chain sitting scooter. Same battery set-up
The electrical parts are fairly cheap, I would just have to find a metal fabricator to make the frame. I would also like to have the battery be removable so I could swap out batteries on the fly to either extend range or so I wouldn't have to wait for the battery to charge.
One suggestion, break up the battery pack into equal, readily available units. Something small enough to make swapping easier, but definitely bigger than the average drill battery.
If balance isn't a problem I'd recommend a small electric cargo bike. I have a relative who uses a mobility scooter, but it has all kinds of issues and is very slow. I built her an ebike and she really enjoys using it instead. It sucks but wheelchairs have a stigma that a bike doesn't. Also med device regulations kinda suck (at least in the USA) and EBikes get around those.
