I finally got around to upgrading to a klipper based core xy machine and it is magic
I went for the K1 Max, since it was $680 after discounts and it's 300mm3 (1.5X the size of a X1C)
Accelerations are 10x faster, print times are 4x shorter compared to my highly modded ender3 and cr-10. this build took about 12hr of print time, normally it was 2 full days.
NO sanding, NO filing, NO heating things up to make them fit right.
Every single piece came off the build-plate perfectly ready to go, aside from my intentionally under-sized pivot and takedown pin holes. I like to drill those out personally...
Now for the specifications:
Daichi Upper + shroud (modified)
DS1913 Lower v1.2 (modified)
Slim Everytown mag (modified)
Get Bent angled grip
Mini hand stop
sling mount is just the mount from SG22 brace
Sling is a laptop bag strap 😆
The muzzle device is an AKM compensator I modified to work for AR barrels. It works marvelously to prevent muzzle climb. Check the video how the gas is going up and forward.
The binary is the mythical Invisibinary by Klaviermeister. It was taken down years ago but if you have half a brain you can find it still. Fosscad of reddit keeps making posts begging for the files every few months lol. they all give up and pay $400 for a storebought binary.
Wondering about reliability? I have thousands of rounds through this binary trigger. check out this clip of a mag dump at 600RPM: https://imgur.com/a/khxhymP
this firearm is for self-defense only. The quote is from
___
I got permabanned from reddit, so please bring that gang over here! So loved having a place to shoot (heh) the shit about guns without the right-wing crap.
yeah I got banned on my main acct for advocating for the use of the death penalty as punishment for treason. Funny because that's literally in the law books but whatever lol.
Invisibinary is by Klaviermeister, in the **Invisiboogle **package. Internet archive is your friend ;)
it comes with 3 position selectors (as you can see in the pic). Safe, Semi, Binary
You can print a trigger, but I bought the metal milspec burst trigger for $20 which makes it way more reliable. (this is all covered in the documentation)
disconnector is in the files, printed, I like it a lot and it has never failed me.
I suggest combining the trip arm and trip nub into one piece. I did this in Fusion but you might be able to align them in your slicer, no guarantee.
The trip nub is what prevents the disconnector from tilting back into it's original position, thus firing the gun on the release.
Semi works perfectly fine, always resets when released.
For the trip nub I anneal it with a lighter very slowly. Heat, cool, heat cool until it is shiny with no layer lines. this is a delicate dance and you'll probably ruin the first one so print a few. Well worth it and makes it last pretty much indefinitely.
I use eSun PLA+ for everything,
let me know if you have any questions. You can PM me if you end up trying it and have trouble
Yeah I think it's partly related to the fact you can't make posts that don't go to All. People get down voted and feel unwelcome, so they stop posting.
This would be a much better place for a fosscad community to grow than r/fosscad.
I got instant downvotes LOL. Before anyone could have even read it all.
That media driven division is doing wonders
That lower is a classic design from the early days of FOSSCAD. I don't like the V2 that came out last year.
It has a full size magwell so I can us CMMG mags, the top of this magazine is sized appropriately for the magwell.
No I directly modelled it into the upper. There are STEP files for the upper widely available, its like a 3 minute task in CAD. I suggest making the pivot and takedown pin holes 6.1mm and drilling them to 6.2mm
edit: I can send you the STL for the upper if that helps, but its not extruded, it's embossed. Not much use unless you want this specific upper.
