I always figured he stood like that because he's trying to hold in a turtle head. That, or someone told him it makes him look less fat.
The lifts would make sense, since he is so sensitive about that, and lying about his height (and weight).
Is this a real picture? Seems modified or else he would fall over. Maybe he's standing uphill?

That's real. He leans forward like that because apparently it helps to hide his fatness.
It makes him look like the front half of a centaur.
Don't You think he would fall over? He looks like he's doing the Smooth Criminal lean. And you had to have shoes bolted to the ground for that.
