/kbin RTR#8 The update of kbin.social and plans for the near future
Today, we managed to update the main instance. Everything should slowly return to normal. Now it's time for things that will be less visible but no less important. Currently, the priority will be interactions with other instances - limiting spam, improving communication in the fediverse (including moderation) in order not to add extra work for other admins. Following that, the release will come along with credits for specific features developed by contributors.
After that, I'll return to my roadmap. I've mentioned many times that kbin was a prototype - I focused more on the experience rather than technical solutions. It will be a time for code refactoring, query optimization, eliminating weak points, which will also help optimize the project's maintenance costs, ensuring its long-term development
Following that, there will be a lot of new features and integrations, about which I will write soon.
Congrats on pushing out the update! Liking what I see so far. Can't wait to see what else is in store.
edit: I mentioned this in a separate thread, but I was wondering if we'll also be getting a changelog from yourself or another user? The posts have been very nice to have, but I wouldn't want to impose an unnecessarily large workload onto a single person.
Thanks, as soon as I get a handle on the current mess, I know where to find you. I also forgot to mention the organization of the moderation team and the introduction of tools that will help breathe life into abandoned magazines. That's in the next few days.
Remember, it's not just one diligent guy in all of this, working amidst the speed of time, delivering fine pastry as a patient bakery sibling twin would; it's all of us, in our own miniscule yet meaningful way forward.
I can't remember, but didn't posts show the link domain preview next to the title? It still shows in the magazine on all the posts, but not in the post itself. It would be nice to have that back.
Does this include a solution for sync of upvotes but not downvotes? This regularly leads to kbin falsely displaying the most controversial comments in a thread from Lemmy as the most popular ones.
