Nintendo Plans 'Smooth Transition' from Switch to Next Console by Using Players' Nintendo Accounts - IGN
Nintendo is planning to give Switch players a "smooth transition" to its next console using Nintendo Accounts.
Speaking during an investors Q&A session, translated by Genki on Twitter (below), Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa indicated that Nintendo Accounts would be a staple for users going forward. "As for the transition from Nintendo Switch to the next generation machine, we want to do as much as possible in order to smoothly transition our customers while utilising the Nintendo Account," he said.
I just want to hear that 99.9% of games will have seamless backwards compatibility.
@GladeXD Would be great, but don't hold your breath. Then they couldn't sell it again and again.
It would be a surefire way for me to seek alternative platforms. I prefer gaming on handhelds, and that landscape is a lot different than it was in 2017.
Worst case scenario is I just get the next gen nintendo for exclusives, and play my 3rd party games on something like a Steam Deck or RoG Ally.
