I imagine with the expected influx of new users on the 1st a lot of the questions that have been asked here will be asked again.
What’s one thing that would have made the transfer to Kbin or Lemmy easier for you?
I wish I'd known how nice a place this is ages ago! After 10 years I was so institutionalised to the way reddit was, it was really hard to imagine using anything else and having anything like as nice a user experience. So many times over the last few days I've suddenly realised that for hours I've been browsing Kbin and not reddit. It's a nice feeling. Also, now I've replaced all my reddit bookmarks with Kbin ones which makes it feel a lot more permanent.
12 0 ReplyI didn't know anything. I clicked a random link on reddit tbh. I just been picking away and enjoying it.
I guess the one thing would be what the actual difference between kbin and lemmy is. Other than that, it's pretty straightforward imo.
8 0 ReplyTwo different softwares for accessing the fediverse. Say like, windows and Mac OS are different OS's for doing similar things.
3 0 ReplyOh I know, but it's something people just migrating should know. Whether they want kbin or lemmy style experience. I know they are similar but still.
I guess the main thing I'd want people migrating to know is don't expect a 1 to 1 reddit. It's it's own thing. Smoother sailing with that expectation.

If I knew about the tankies earlier, I would have gone straight to kbin without wasting time trying to sign up for Lemmy.
7 1 ReplyDo you mind elaborating what tankies is? I'm on kbin as well.

3 0 ReplyTankies are people who claim to be socialists or communists but are actually sympathetic to authoritarians, and in particular are anti-democratic.

Are they pushing their agenda though?
