The same optical fingerprint reader it seems? That's literally the only improvement I wanted, so if it has an optical fingerprint reader that's a dealbreaker for me.
17 1 Reply7 here, and yeah it sucks, even when using special fingerprint-ready screen protectors.
8 0 ReplyYeah, I forgot to mention I have the 7 and the fingerprint reader is the only part of this phone that I genuinely hate.
6 1 ReplyWorse than the suboptimal battery life?
5 0 ReplyYeah, I haven't really had issues with the battery, especially since I plug it in every night. I plug it in the dark shortly before my corneas are burned out by the fingerprint reader.
2 0 ReplyWith GrapheneOS I'm kinda surprised how well it performs, TBH.
1 0 ReplyOn my Pixel 4a it performs worse with GrapheneOS and Sandboxed Google Play Services

It seems like the face unlock is a lot better now. Since it's level 3. That means you can use Google pay and such without the fingerprint sensor.
2 0 ReplyDoes it work well in the dark? If so it might not be so bad.
2 0 ReplyProbably not since it doesn't use infrared lasers or similar as far as I know
3 0 ReplyIdk tbf. The reviews will have to tell us

You get secure face unlock now as an alternative if the fingerprint sensor isn't cutting it.
