TTRPGs are so gay and honestly i'm living for it, shame I never figured out how to find groups in this day and age (please won't someone adopt this shy girl and do nothing but roll dice ;3)

I playtested (refereed) the Crystal Palace module which ended in a massacre of the crew. The netrunner disappeared without a trace.
The players (and I) completely underestimated how badly crap goes wrong. Also they assumed they could survive a direct confrontation with security.
It's better to imagine it closer to this world (where it's very hard not to be screwed) and plot accordingly. Make an ironclad Plan B and Plan C, and then have an optional Plan D just in case.
Or, revel in the news and court procedings in the aftermath.
Consider also TFOS which is a much more lighthearted game.
