So I just had a curious conversation with my wife. She is getting swimming lessons and complained that she is forgetting to blow water out of her nose when surfacing. I laughed and asked why she would not keep her nose closed, to which she told me that I'm a creep and the only person she knows who can close his nose with just facial muscles. It can't be true, right? Right?
Mmm… so when I contract muscles on my face I can make it’s impossible to breathe thru my nose. Visually it’s like parts above nose arches just contract a bit inwards. Nothing drastic.
What I'd do when diving is go underwater, then breathe out a little air through my nose, so the air stays inside my nostrils and kind of "seals" my nose to water. but this only works as long as you don't turn upside down
This guy is talking about getting water out of the nostrils themselves , not the nasal passage. If you don't breathe out bwforyou breathe in while swimming, you'll inhale the water in your nostrils.
