Shiny Leaf Coffee
Shiny Leaf Coffee
Shiny leaf coffee (Psychotria nervosa) is my favorite native plant and it is also a favorite of the local bees! Zone 9b, Florida, USA
Is it called that because it looks similar to a coffee plant or because it also makes a decent beverage?
EDIT: nvm. I was too curious to wait for a response.
This is not a coffee substitute (Pinkley 1969; Austin 2004). Its common name is may be a reference to some visual similarity to coffee

The corner store on my block has a beautiful 8-foot tall indoor coffee tree that blooms each year. Not the same plant, or native, lol, but the picture made me think of it.
3 0 ReplyThat's awesome, do they get coffee from it?
1 0 ReplyThey said it made very few berries, unfortunately. It got good ambient light, but no particular grow lighting or anything
