You know this stuff isn’t actually recycled, right? It just ends up in a giant toxic burn pit in west Africa and then they have kids with small hands pick through the smoldering wreckage looking for blobs of metals.
Um, no. Love, somewhere with actual regulations.
Regulations cost money. African labor is cheap. Don't worry, the market will sort it out...

Nope. I'm currently in England and a lot of it they burn with the rest of our garbage too. Other places here still ship it to the third world. We still have a long way to go before the garbage and recycling problem is fixed.

This is a global problem, fortunately consumers are better at separating their waste these days. A lot of these problems are up stream, though. Some places are getting better as per above but they are not good with this stuff. These laws are meant to set bare minimum standards and they are repeatedly missed.
There are charities around me that take old laptops, put chromeOS on them and give to low income folks.
Give it to me and it won't take a single joule of energy to recycle plus it's still useful
