Do you understand the needs and desires of my 17 yo child better than I do?
Definitely not!
As a parent, will I be consulting you when making decisions about what procedures to allow?
No, fuck off. I'll stick with the doctors, psychologists, and my child. Together, we'll figure out what makes sense for us. The government doesn't need to be involved.
Do some research on what is actually involved, all major medical orgs have endorsed the use of hormone blockers for trans kids to put off puberty 'til we're legal adults who can do hormome therapy without triggering the sensitive feelings of people who think they can tell other people's kids and doctors what to do.
I will never stop being pissed that the state of Texas suppressed this knowledge so much that I had to go through the wrong puberty in the 90's before I learned that there was an alternative.
That doesn't put me in the minority. I did a simple search, and the first result was a poll from 2023 stating that most adults are against it.
From what I'm reading, many health professionals can't come to an agreement on it.
Regardless, you do you. I'm allowed to state an opinion. If you take that as "someone trying to tell you what to do," that's more of a "you" problem than a "me" problem.
