Pure metallic mercury is actually pretty safe assuming don't guzzle it like a capri sun.
Aren't the fumes bad?
It depends if it's organic or inorganic, but generally nah you don't want to go huffing it.
It's fairly safe to handle by hand if you've no open cuts but I wouldn't recommend it at all ever.
