As a Clevelander myself, who's only been to Columbus once, I must ask. What is life like for you guys? Cleveland is this strange place where people assume it sucks, but then they visit, and they love it.
But I know how the REST of Ohio is. We're basically 3 big cities, and a whole lot of suckage! Being that you're a suburb of one of the big 3, do you consider yourself to be city folk, or farmers?
Do you cheer for Cleveland sports, or Cincinnati sports? Legally you're not allowed to say you cheer for Michigan instead. Otherwise we'll have to carve your eyes out with a wooden smile, while gleefully smiling.
We're about 15 minutes (barring traffic) from downtown Columbus, so it certainly feels big city to me. However, I had a client visit from Houston, and she commented about how I lived in a little farming community (because she drove up from Cincinnati and never saw the city of Columbus itself.)
So it's all perspective I guess?
I've mostly enjoyed it, especially with the additions of Beulah Park and the business it's brought to Grove City Town Center. With DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas) you can socialize and walk around, especially during community events.
Grove City had (has?) the nickname of Grove-tucky but never delivered on the negative aspects of that connotation - at least in my eyes.
Central Ohio has a good mix of Cincinnati, Cleveland, and even Pittsburgh fans (of which I am the latter - so maybe not a great litmus test.)
However, I must stress: I don't give a damn about the whole state of Michigan.
