A new study says that the impact of aquaculture on wild fishes and the wider marine environment is “greater than commonly cited"
I don't know why people use "fishes" when "fish" is a perfectly acceptable term for more than one fish. In this context nobody would have assumed they were only talking about a single fish.

*While the English language usually refers to multiple fishes as “fish”, we use “fishes” to emphasize that they are individuals.

@Linktank "fishes" refers to multiple species of fish
3 goldfish = 3 fish
1 goldfish, 1 trout and 1 catfish = 3 fishes
