"Dammit," I say under my breath as I pull my eye from the datascope. "They even made it all the way out here," I say as I turn to my copilot. As usual, xhe is asleep. I shrug and continue my analysis on my own. Its the strangest thing, these creatures are already at every habitable planet we discover. Even more concerning, its as if they've been there for a while. Some insist on a theory of convergent evolution, "They just so happen to keep evolving," they say. The thing is, their skeletal structure, DNA, and even some of their cultures, are always consistent. Now, this may seem like a massive scientific oversight, but it is better for most than the alternative explanation. That this is their universe, that they alone have conquered. That we are the ones who encroach, not the other way around. That they are better than us, in every way. There are those who cannot accept what is different. So I file my report to the Galactic Rights Board and in about two weeks standard time a sweeper will come to this sector to "clean them up." As I do, the datascope picks up something peculiar. One of them is speaking to a crowd, and the words cracked through hyper directional microphone, "We have nothing to fear, but fear itself."
