I've Got A Bad Feeling About This
So, I'm extremely late on my Spirits of Conquest updates. 2 sessions behind exactly but oh well. Today, I'd like to share with you a quick snippet of an insane Star Wars EotE game that I GM'd.
My players were a droid, two dark side Jedi, a mandalorian, and one ballsy pilot. Forget the origins, and in fact forget everything that is going on because I had the great idea to have my Big Bad capture the Star Forge, and instead of running from him, they chased him into the heart. Normally this would mean death, but I am generous, and FFG has mechanics that let players change the narrative to certain degrees.
In a ghastly turn of events, they slay my Big Bad right there, and only one of the players lost both their arms! This of course gave them unfettered access to basically anything they wanted. At first I thought I had fucked up, but then the possibilities came to me. The battle for the Star Forge had concluded as a fleet meaning to back up the players was underway, only, the players now had very different plans.
I have them 10 real life minutes to compile everything they wanted the star forge to produce for them. Most were pretty straight forward, beskar stuff, weapon components, whatever. But that damn pilot, he knee exactly what he wanted, down to the smallest support ship. 10 minutes was too generous, and he easily constructed massive fleet. Which he immediately used to threaten the New Republic ships coming in to "support them". This caused them to retreat at the site of a superior fleet operated by droids. Droids that he specified needed to appear as massively ripped protocol droids.
This rag tag team turned into absolute conquerers. I laid out four worlds for them before the session ended, each one with the intent of halting their onslaught and goal of controlling enough planets to have a seat on the galactic Senate, but they prevailed every time. Needless to say, I will not be including the Star Forge in that way for a very long time. Though it was extremely fun basically running a war game against my players for an entire campaign.
