This would be fantastic and I'd love to see it spread to the rest of the world. Planning longer trips and rationing contact lens solution has always been a bit of a juggle. Am also excited about not needing to pack my e-gear so it's readily removable. I'm a two-bag traveller (well, 1-1/2), and kindle-ipad-phone-laptop-battery-bag'o'cables is a royal pain to disassemble and re-assemble, even when everything super organize.
(PS - sorry I mis/re-posted to my community on .world ...I'm still getting my feet under me in the fediverse)
I posted here (my here, on lemmy.world, but not your here on wafarershaven.eu) but I also copy and pasted the link onto https://lemmy.world/c/shoestring which is for budget travelling. I notice that there's a link back to here (your here, since I tagged this post in the body of the comment there, which is on my here) over there, so it kind of worked, but I'm sure there's a way I could crosspost directly.
I think travelling though airport security might actually be easier than navigating the fediverse, but at least I can have as much liquid as I want when I'm online. š
Itās about time! London has been by far the strictest about liquids of all the airports Iāve flown through. I havenāt had a separate bag for liquids for a while, and never had a problem until I flew through LTN. It seemed like a huge waste of time for everyone involved.
I guess I donāt carry enough liquids for them to flag it - usually just foundation and lip gloss (and sometimes the 2 oz contact lens solution). I have it all in my toiletry bag, and at some point stopped taking it out, and it wasnāt a problem. Iām also usually flying in the US w/ TSA PreCheck so maybe they already have the upgraded scanners for those lanes.
I've always been annoyed by the liquid limit, but mostly for water. I have fantastic drinking water at home, and it pisses me off when I have to pour it out at security.
That's rough! And then you're stuck either fill up with tap water (can be dubious) or repurchase water and exorbitant prices. Fingers crossed that this changes soon!
I don't think it'll matter too much for weight, but I'll be so happy to take 50ml bottles of face cream again, and even two of them for day and night cream. Sure, they fit in the 1l bag but they tend to take up too much space with pump lids and whatnot. Being able to just toss it in my bag sounds wondrous.
