CalcKey Officially Rebrands as Firefish
CalcKey adopts a new name, new logo, new site, and new project infrastructure. While the name is somewhat odd, this feels like a really big step forward for the project.
Cute logo, although it sounds like it's related to FireFox somehow.
13 0 ReplyYeah, that's definitely a reaction I saw as well. At least it's not a web browser? 😛
8 0 ReplyIt's an ActivityPub browser, arguably 😅

They may end up rebranding again as there is already software put there using the name.
5 0 ReplyYeah, that's kind of funny. Naming things is hard.

I had to Google it to find out what it even is.
4 0 ReplyWhat is it?
2 0 ReplyIt's basically an alternate version of Mastodon, similar to how Kbin and Lemmy both do similar things while being seperate projects, and a fork of another project called Misskey

Firefish is very close to the perfect Tumblr replacement, it even has the custom looks for each blog
1 0 ReplyI highly recommend checking it out, it's a much nicer experience than Mastodon.
4 20 ReplyEh, mastodon has better apps available though. So user experience in that regard differs.
2 1 ReplyHaven’t tried it out yet, but supposedly the newest update makes calckey work with some mastodon clients!
2 0 ReplyFirefish supports now all apps afaik that are compatible with mastodon. You might just not have access to certain exclusive features of the instance.
