I am not and never was a reddit mod for ncd. I never even had a verified reddit account. I'm happy to add the reddit mods as mods here if they want(pending community approval).
Honestly I don't even really want to mod I just wanted an active ncd community to read some shit posts without using reddit.
I've tried reaching out to the ncd mods over Lemmy and never got a reply so I've just assumed they gave up on moving to Lemmy.
Edit:
My bad I guess they did talk to me a month ago I think. I just had no idea who they were.

Thanks for running this! ncd was one of my favorite subreddits, even though I didn't post anything myself.
If you don't mind me asking: how much time does moderating the community take out of a typical day, and what can us users be doing to make it easier and more enjoyable for you?
Usually we generate 1 or 2 reports a week. The previous two weeks we generated several an hour pretty consistently so it was stressful since it mostly involved me having to look and remove NSFW material while at work or really dumb things.
We seem to be back to not generating any reports again :) the last few days thanks everyone!
Ideally at most it's like 30 minutes a day outside of the scat incident making me constantly look to remove it and trying to shut stuff down to stop getting reports spammed.
You guys have been really good at not getting in flame wars! I really hate removing content at most if it looks like it might happen I try to post "be nice" once or more in the thread and it resolves itself.
I have not had to ban any users and only removed like 3 comments/posts this whole time outside of the scat incidents. I still have some PTSD from that.
Thanks everyone for being nice and not making being a mod worse than it needs to be!
I still don't like the responsibility. I was going to try to have you guys pick some additional mods this weekend so I could step back and play around with making another community for an unrelated interest.
I guess we will wait on what happens with the reddit mods... I want community input before we make them mods here if we go that direction. I don't really have the highest opinion for how they handled the api change stuff to cling onto power...
I also don't like how the r/NCD mods went back to SFW when Reddit threatened to remove them as mods and replace them. The NSFW-status-justifying open letter to Reddit admin with spicy links of NSFW should have been their hill to die on. It was a brilliant chess move and it should have been a "nail our colors to the [free speech] mast" moment. Then the mods backed down from it. That's why I don't want to invite them to mod here. They can't be trusted to stand up for their own freedom of conscience, even when they had nothing to lose. They won't stand up for anything else. Shit, you're doing a good job, don't get burned out. Take care of your mental health.
Glad to hear things are manageable. I suspect that everyone on Lemmy kinda feels a sense of ownership on the site and it makes us a bit more responsible I guess. Regardless, I hope it remains manageable in the future. Thanks again for doing this, and please let us know how we can be doing our part to make it easier on you.
Thank you for your work on bring the magic of literally weaponized autism to lemmy. NCD is more or less the only thing I actually missed from Reddit. I know moderation sucks, too, so extra thanks for going above and beyond.
You're honestly doing great. I'm not too concerned about having the same mod team as long as we get to have the same vibe. I'm not much of a moderator but if you need help getting your bot working I might can help with that!
A bot to remove and remake/pin and the weekly post would be good. I was also considering trying to make a bot to tell people to be nice and sends a message for manual review if it generates several reports.
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: [email protected]
Yeah you where/are on my list of people I was going to put forward for a community aye or nay vote on. This reddit thing is kind of a wrench in my community plans.
Sure thing. People can check out my (way too old) r*ddit account with the same username if they want to check out what kind of poster I am.
I say we forge on with this community for now. As much as I love and respect the OG NCD mods, they've been pretty noncommittal to the fediverse so far.
This way we at least have a growing NCD presence outside of reddit, which might provide confidence to people looking to make a move.
To help jump start NCD on Lemmy what do you think about a bot that cross[site]posts reddit NCD posts here. You could tune it to only copy posts that have been up for a few hours and meet minimum vote threshold. Or you could ask people here to submit their reddit usernames and then only auto-copy those users' posts here.
If Lemmy has the same content that reddit does then that will go a long way towards helping increase the user base and engagement.
Yes! I would like it to be throttled enough to still generate discussions and not just turn into spamming content. The comment section was always my main draw to ncd. I love reading people's deranged takes on the world. Although as always unique self made content is usually the best kind.
Like you, I'm not particularly interested in being a moderator I just want to see one of my favorite Reddit subs transition to lemmy. So I'm willing to put in some time to help out make that happen.
Once y'all have enough moderators I can back out if necessary.
I've moderated the subreddits so I know enough about how to do it.
