The world can be a pretty strange place, but it's good to look back and find at least one thing that was good to you today. Be that a nice conversation, a cool picture you saw, a song you heard... whatever! But if you didn't find anything good today, here's your sign: go do one thing for you, right now. Even if its just a moment of peace, take it and make it your good thing for the day.
Saw this post half an hour ago and realized I haven't done much today apart from sitting in my dark bedroom drawing lol. So I made a big cup of tea, put on some Roger Whittaker songs, cut up an apple into small bits and ate them with my old dog Billy at the table. He's around 16yrs old now so not many years left :[ trying my best to spend lots of time with him while I can.
My husband came on a walk with me today. Usually I go by myself and really enjoy that, but some days my husband comes with and those days are the best! We walked two miles to the farmers market, bought some lettuce and a Father's Day card for his dad, and walked the two miles back. It was just really nice. Then I made pasta and we set up the projector screen on the deck to watch some TV in style.
I wrote 5 pages of the last chapter of the book I’m writing. It’s taken me a year to get to this point but there’s only about 13 more pages to go and I’ll be done with my first draft.
My wife makes such delicious food. Last night she made some pork chops with some delicious spicy cabbage. So good. Today I got to eat leftovers and they're still so good. lol
Woke up at 4:58 this morning to yelling. Earplugs yanked out and groggy me seeing little yet hearing the word “water.”
I certainly don’t “spring” out of or in to anything, but today was my day, I suppose. I sprung out of bed and very quickly realized that torrents of water were streaming through, yes through, the walls and gushing across the floor of this tiny apartment.
Good morning motherfucker, life has set you one hell of an alarm clock today!
For the next hour, mops-a-flying, me down on my knees in dirty water sopping it up with towels, even the landlord valiantly pitching in with a…..a broom and a dustbin?
How about we throw in some physical injury to this story? Huzzah, let’s do it!
The landlady slipped on a wet floor, smashed her face and started screaming. Ended up with a broken arm and a shirt full of blood. I check my watch. It’s 5:09am. Just three hours earlier I’d been awake in bed watching Reddit go dark and trying to figure Kbin the fuck out.
And now where in this actually true story, you long-winded bastard, was something good that happened to you today?
Despite so much pre-sunrise chaos among family and barely acquaintances, amidst financial and logistical headaches and fairly substantial physical injury, none of us lost our cool even once. Not one snide remark was made by anyone, though a few jokes were passed around. It was actually a pretty fun start to my day, all those many hours ago.
Cherish those little moments... I've recently lost the last of my grandparents, and there's not much I wouldn't give to have that time in the garden with my grandfather, or making biscuits with my grandmother again.
My son got himself up for school this morning & on the bus 100% successfully. Which is amazing as he's 11 & has autism, ADHD, & anxiety.
He showered, dressed, had his meds, & packed his bag. All while I was laying in bed listening. I stayed in bed because I was worried I'd distract him if I got up.
