My pikag was going from tullamarine to Essendon fields, but then ended up in Dandenong South. That always seems to happen. Every time I've seen a parcel go from melb airport to Essendon airport, it always goes via Dandenong South for.... Reasons
I also did an in transit redirection thingo to a random post office in the south east just for the fun of it, and tulla seems to be their only facility that applies the labels. So it will probably look something like Melbourne airport > dandy south > Essendon fields > Melbourne airport > held for redirection > Dandenong South > Essendon fields > cranbourne
meanwhile I have one which was shipped yesterday from somewhere over the east side, I forget where exactly, went through Tullamarine last night and should be arriving at my front door of my parents place out in Melton any moment now (status is onboard for delivery as of 30 minutes ago)
Haha having MC delivered feels like I'm doing something illegal. Even when I go to Prahan to pick it up at the pharmacy, I still feel so judged. Like the po-po are gonna rush in and arrest me as part of a sting. Which is dumb, I have TGA approval lol.
But MC being delivered to your door - we truly are living in the future
What a time to be alive! I didn't feel any weirdness going to pick mine up from St Kilda BUT I was on my toes because where I parked felt like a slightly sketchy area and I figured scumbags might watch for people coming out of the dispensary and target them. Felt super sketchy like that around some of the US dispensaries I went to over there too.
Lol I feel that way walking out of Amcal in Prahan. I just beeline back to the train station lol. I don't want ANYONE to look at me while I'm carrying my Green Gold tyvm hahaha
I have heard of posties nicking MC packages, but that was when MC was picking up in popularity. Haven't heard anything of the sort since, so I imagine they've cracked down on that. I personally haven't had any issues with either delivery or pickup, it's a seamless processs, end to end.
Well the cynical part of me says they do it to add extra time and make express post a better option. When I was sick I ordered some stuff from chemist warehouse (box hill) through the express post and it didn't do this. It went from box hill to Melbourne airport and then from Melbourne airport to my house. Although it did get scanned a lot at the airport.
The optimist in me says... Actually fuck it, there's no optimism when it comes to auspost, only cynicism.
There's an auspost sorting facility down in Dandenong South, so I imagine it's just being sorted for distribution. Thought, anecdotally, there's been parcels getting stuck in sorting facilities for weeks. I imagine their packages fell off the conveyor lol
Edit: clarification because I had another coffee and am overthinking: it is at Dandenong to be sorted, it will then be sent to your local auspost and assigned a postie to deliver.
I'll have a chat with my aunt about it, she works for auspost. (Apparently posties/couriers can be very emotional and resistant to change lol love her stories)
Yeah, it's just always struck me as a bit funny that Tullamarine to Essendon fields is like 5km, but they send it on a 122km detour to Dandenong South and back to Essendon fields.
Also on Monday (before it processed at tulla) I lodged the in transit redirection thingy to a random post office somewhere near Cranbourne (I don't know the area very well), and eventually when it scans it gets held for a person to come and manually put a new address label on it. I've only seen this happen at tulla, never anywhere else, which is why I think once it gets to Essendon fields it'll be sent back to tulla again. Also, I imagine Dandenong South would be the local sorting centre for the post office I chose, so after it's redirected it'll probably be bounced back over there. Terribly inefficient
