I cannot overcome the sheer amount of human grace and beauty in this tiny strip of land that has been continuously tortured, bombed, and subjugated for almost 80 years.

This injured, bereaved, hijab-wearing mute young woman communicates truth and emotion with one hand, using sign language, better than 90% (easy) of perfectly healthy people in safe and democratic societies who have slept and eaten well for the past 8 months.

This kind of strength and dignity will not be found anywhere near the main platforms and stages of the Western world. But this is humanity, and this is what it means
