The key isn't to restrict all these choices, schools should take sterner actions against bullies. And perhaps parenting classes for people to know how to be a parent instead of just pushing out children without an idea how to care for them.
We all know schools are so ineffectual when it comes to that and the students interviewed seem to have very well thought out and nuanced views on the issue.
I think the opinions of the students should hold more weight over that of the teachers and parents here. If they are alright with uniforms but want more relaxed hairstyle rules, that should be the way to go.
On the subject of parenting classes though, YES GOD PLEASE SOMEBODY DO IT.
Schools are basically run by a bunch of control freaks.
When I was from 2 I was punished and harassed for having my hair too short. It was just a number 2 on the side and top a bit spiky. Guru disciplin said it was too short and tried to grab my hair and pull it out. No idea why he did that.
Come from 3 I got done again just before PMR, said hair too long and they give it a few snips cause apparently my fringe too long.
Come from 5 I got done again, my fringe was above eyebrow but they thought overall it’s still too long. It wasn’t long, just lots of volume and thick. My photo was taken and put on projector slide for 3000 students to see and as warning.
Oh yeah I got rotan as well for these offences
If I was the minister of education I will bring back bullying and ask kids to bully these control freaks to show them what’s up.
