  • Not really GPL because the board itself will need proprietary blobs, potentially still have Intel ME running, and cannot flash Libreboot.

    • It's still a fantastic step in the right direction in my opinion. Maybe once risk-v matures more we will get a proper GPL board.

    • Unless anything has changed ME can still be disabled with the HAP bit and it will very likely use Coreboot (or a fork of it) as the BIOS and the OpenEC firmware so I'd still say it's pretty good.

      Libreboot is honestly overkill in my opinion and it tends to cause strange issues, I put it on a Thinkpad (X230) once for a friend and it would pause before booting for random amounts of time, I switched it back to the original then flashed coreboot and ME cleaner and it worked perfectly without the pausing issue.
