The amount of spez bootlickers on Reddit actually supporting what the company is doing is grotesque. Have fun seeing "promoted" posts all over your feed.
It wouldn't surprise me. All I did was subscribe to the football community. I'm more motivated to comment and post here because I really want this gunners community to succeed and grow.
A 2 day blackout was never going to do anything. I'm a little disappointed that we (r/gunners) aren't extending it indefinitely. But it seemed like there wasn't quite enough popular support for it.
And yeah, that's a bit of a pet peeve of mine. Turns out it costs time and money to build a site like reddit. Although honestly, most of the features that I personally miss are from apps like Reddit is fun or RES. Not so much from the main Reddit interface.
It's interesting how c/gunners has turned out to be one of the more active communities I'm a part of in Lemmy, looks like there's been enough of us who jumped ship (or at least tested the waters)
Yeah RES is why I stay on old reddit and if it goes I'll seriously consider things simply because it allows me to tag users and keep track of people it's not worth engaging with, or if they're alts, or even just remembering who they are!
Yep. Setting a hard cutoff point of 48h limited the impact quite a bit. I’ve seen other subs go on “read-only” mode indefinitely and I wonder if r/Gunners would even entertain the thought, and should there be a vote for it I honestly doubt it’ll pass…
And yeah, Lemmy itself is just another platform like Reddit was before the little annoyances were added; most of what I liked wasn’t from Reddit but Apollo. Reckon Lemmy would do better once Mlem on iOS is out of beta or there’s a proper App around.
I ended up getting a tildes.net invite too. The UI is a lot more polished over there. But the devs are being really cautious with managing user load, so it’s not public/open yet.
They're also dynamically adding communities (the idea is that people will post to, say, sports.gunners and then once that gets popular enough it would get split off into its own community), which is a good idea, but it's nice to be able to make your own from the get-go.
From what I’ve read invited users can invite newer users themselves. Would you mind passing me an invite? I don’t know if there’s messaging here on Lemmy yet; guess you can DM on Reddit (same username)
Since there multiple people have leaked it but not told the full story sharing it.
Exwhu already posted 2 hours before Ornstein that Arsenal made a 80m+10m pound offer for Rice and has been rejected but normal since it's an opening bid
Also mention City keen but Rice prefers Arsenal
Updated it by saying next bid from Arsenal with increased offer likely today or tomorrow.
Starting to think there's something there but I doubt it will be quick. We don't really need him and Chelsea are going to try and hold ou for another buyer/more money so could see this one going to the wire.
Which as he's not going to be starting isn't necessarily a bad thing, either way you think we're going for Rice/Caicedo first as they will be starting.
I mean having him won't be a bad thing, but for that price I'm surprised we are actually in for him. If we do get him, I'm curious how Mikel is going to cook him.
Apparently Kulusevski isn't as tied down to the shithole as we might have imagined. Are we still interested in having him? Could probably get him for pretty cheap if Newcastle pass on him. (and if he's willing, he seemed pretty happy swimming around there)
Yeah, the fact that there has been no news afterwards is good news. If we put in a second bid and it wasn't good enough it would have been loudly rejected.
Forest at home to start the season, should be kicking about at the top for quite a while. Decent run of fixtures up until Man U at home, which we should feel confident about. Getting hyped for the new season!
Rumours in Spain that Barca are moving on to Amrabat for €25-30m because Zubimendi is too expensive.
I wonder if that has played a part in us pulling out of the Caicedo deal. We've always preferred Zubimendi, and he'd even be cheaper. The only issue was that he always preferred Barca to us.
This City news about wanting Rice seems like it smoke and mirrors. I think West Ham want a bidding war, but City generally don't get into one. This seems like an effort on West Ham's front to get us to pay their asking price.
