    But the Russians who suffer have no power to influence any kind of change. So their suffering is an acceptable cost for Putin.

    When the oligarchs suffer, Putin will feel the pressure...but not before then. May it happen soon.

  • Curious. I thought it was Europe that was supposed to be freezing, by now. Russia's every claim and accusation seems to be a confession in disguise.

  • 20,000 people without heating at -25°C for more than a couple days that's pretty bad. The article mentioned a central boiler, so does the heat get transferred directly? They don't use gas?

    • It's most probably the same system as we have in Ukraine. There are "boiling stations" around the town that provide hot water to the apartment buildings for regular use and heating.
