We regret to inform you that Ray Kurzweil is back on his bullshit
The Google futurist talks nanobots and avatars, deepfakes and elections – and why he is so optimistic about a future where we merge with computers
You're viewing part of a thread.
You didn't say AR built into eyeglasses for consumers, you left out the consumers part.
But you're struggling, I get it.
Let's not take NASA's word for it, right?
What do they know about revolutionary tech, anyway?
1 0 ReplyShow me NASA AR built into eye glasses 1999-2009. Because the only thing I can find is from 2015.
If it existed before 1999 it's not a prediction. If I was invented after 2009 it's a fail.
1 0 ReplyOh, and then the hmd 1, which looks more like an AR headset you recognize was in 2008. Rapidly changed into modern looking visor by 2012.
Apparently they can see out and info is there also.
So there you go.
Double whammy
1 0 ReplyThose aren't eyeglasses. Those are AR goggle rigs that existed since 1968.
1 0 ReplySure. You might like these then:
2004: An outdoor helmet-mounted AR system was demonstrated by Trimble Navigation and the Human Interface Technology Laboratory (HIT lab).

Boy, this seems difficult for you.
1 0 ReplyGoggles aren't eyeglasses. Those are goggles. NASA had the VIEW ar system in 1989.

It's not a prediction if it existed 10 years earlier.
These are eyeglasses

2004: An outdoor helmet-mounted AR system was demonstrated by Trimble Navigation and the Human Interface Technology Laboratory (HIT lab).
1 0 ReplyThose are goggles not eyeglasses. AR goggles were invented in 1968. NASA AR goggles were invented in 1989.
Fail.
1 0 ReplyThose are glasses, but you can tomato whichever tomato you choose.
1 0 ReplyThe video shows goggles that completely block vision and a camera mounted in front of them to transmit a live image into the view screen. It's the same NASA VIEW system from 1989.
Fail.
1 0 ReplyNo, it's not.
Pass

Haha, sure, sure. Okay...
NASA had a vr lab since 92, let's see if we can find you ar glasses in your special time frame..
Looks like there's some software called Doug that used cameras and sensors in goggles for astronaut training in 2001.
1 0 ReplyAgain if it already existed, THAT ISN'T A PREDICTION.
Pointing out all the things that existed before Kurzweil predicted they would be invented isn't helping your argument.
1 0 ReplyRight, these are the things in your special decade conforming to your list.
You're getting really burned up huh.
This list kind of backfired against you real hard huh?
1 0 ReplyIt's not a prediction if the invention already exists.
Fail.
1 0 ReplyIncorrect unless you're equivocating discrete inventions.
Paaass
1 0 ReplyA prediction by definition is something that will happen in the future.
AR existed since 1968. NASA had AR goggles in 1989.
Kurzweil's predictions were made in 1999 for things that will exist by 2009.
He created the rules of his predictions, not me.
1 0 ReplyI see. So you don't know the dates or the rules.
Got it.
1 0 ReplyIn 1999 Kurzweil said by 2009 most people will be using computers with no mechanical parts and no keyboards.
As evidence you pointed to the 1997 Palm pilot that predates his prediction and has mechanical parts.
Double fail.
It's not a prediction if it already exists. If it happened after 2009, that falls outside his own given prediction limit.
Kurzweil made the rules that you won't follow.
1 0 ReplyAgain, kurzweil made those predictions before 1999, but who's counting? Not you.
He didn't make your rules for you, you're just upset that he was correct so you're trying and failing to rebut him.
It's hilarious that you can't do it.
I actually thought you'd have a much higher success rate than this, but even by your own metrics he's still above 80% just within that one book.
