I remember @rodger last year reporting from the Eagles press box that the fans in front of him weren't watching the game - just hurling abuse at him and giving him the bird because he's a Giants fan.

It's football contest season and I've been getting a lot of DMs about proxies. I posted earlier this week but I highly recommend @footballcontest if you're looking to sign up in Vegas. They don't pay me for promo, there's no referral commission. I'm sure there are other good services out there but I've used this one for a decade with no mistakes, no website issues, etc. and would highly recommend.

The NFL putting RedZone on its streaming service for $14.99/mo feels like one of those things that could take another big hit out of pay TV/cable.
RedZone is a $10.99 package add-on to YouTube TV, for example.

In the 60s, the United States Navy had a better QB than 90% of the NFL or AFL. Fact.

If your coach doesn’t look like a cattle rancher who also runs a reputable removedhouse and your quarterback got more than 45 minutes of sleep before kickoff, you don’t even know what badassery is.
The NFL suspended four players -- three for at least the 2023 season -- for violations of the league's gambling policy.
>Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry of the Indianapolis Colts and free agent Demetrius Taylor were suspended indefinitely — through at least the 2023 season — for betting on NFL games last season. > >In addition, Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere was suspended six games for betting on other sports at the workplace. The four suspensions were announced Thursday by the NFL.
Sports-Focused Instance
A place for NFL fans and their team communities! # Looking for mods!
Hello to all! Given how unintuitive the search function in Lemmy can be, I wanted to let everyone in the [email protected] community know about another instance that was created to focus solely on sports. This instance was initially created to discuss baseball but I have added a community for every NFL team as well just to try and get some more participation. I have also added some communities for college football as well.
Please feel free to crosspost any NFL news onto the [email protected] community and if we can manage to get some participation there I will crosspost things over here as well. Hopefully both of our communities can continue to grow NFL discussion and bring more Reddit refugees to Lemmy.
Apparently tagging @community@lemmyinstance in a post will add your post to the tagged lemmy sub. You can also get all those lemmy posts in your mastodon feed if you follow the community account for e

This is the best summary I could come up with:
For the fourth time in five years, her hometown team and the focus of her decadeslong activism against the use of Native American imagery and references in sports is in the Super Bowl.
“There’s no other group in this country subjected to this kind of cultural degradation,” said Phil Gover, who founded a school dedicated to Native youth in Oklahoma City.
It tells Native kids that the rest of society, the only thing they ever care to know about you and your culture are these mocking minstrel shows,” he said, adding that what non-Native children learn are stereotypes.
Ahead of the 2020 season, the Chiefs barred fans from wearing headdresses or face paint referencing or appropriating Native American culture in Arrowhead Stadium, though some still have.
The added attention on the team this season thanks to singer Taylor Swift’s relationship with tight end Travis Kelce isn’t lost on Indigenous activists.
During Chiefs home games, she and other Indigenous activists stand outside Arrowhead with signs saying, “Stop the Chop” and “This Does Not Honor Us.” The sounds of a large drum and thousands of fans imitating a “war chant” as they swing their arms thunder from the stadium.
The original article contains 1,148 words, the summary contains 197 words. Saved 83%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!
@[email protected] We are federated with beehaw, right? Based on my understanding if I am subscribed to [email protected] then we should be federated.
I'm new here, and I'm finding it's easier to join communities not on my hosted instance if links to the community are formatted like this:
[email protected] - Jacksonville Jaguars
Instead of like this:
I need to log in to a mobile browser to my instance (https://sh.itjust.works), then search with the [email protected] string, then subscribe through the sidebar... Just searching with team names is hit and miss, and I can't seem to ever find anything by url. And going right to the url only lets you join if you're logged into that instance...
Are other people finding it less than intuitive to find and join communities?
I think this one's the larger/more active? At least that's what https://browse.feddit.de/ says
Another Giants fan!! If you haven't already, join the Giants community I created
