Beachcomber oversized shawl

Knit with TruBoo so light and airy for summer. (Bamboo is squirrelly and the ends are not as neatly woven in as when they started)

*edit to fix words... stupid autocorrect and swipe to text ganging up on me

For once, finished on season!

My contribution to the current theme is also my latest FO: A Thea Top in Cotton/Linen/Viscose. (Link to Rav-project)

That's what it looks like after one week of wearing and toddler-proofing (we end up dangerously close to a side-boob situation, so it definitely needs layering):

!

I'm a little proud for managing to weave in all my ends and block it in the last days of August, in time to wear it on our late-summer vacation. The final garment is not exactly what I was hoping for, but I'm learning to love it.

My first ever top that actually fit!

My contribution to the summer vibes is this Gemini Top, knitted in Patons Linen Touch. The yoke detail is just on one side, so you can wear it to the front or the back and it looks right either way.

According to the dates on Ravelry I made this about a year after learning to knit, and I remember being super proud because this was the first time I'd successfully adapted a pattern for my crazy wide hips and had it actually fit and not be too tight! I had to put so many more increases in than the pattern called for. Curse my weird figure šŸ˜‚

Unfortunately it's also the first time I tried to do "make one" increases from memory, without looking it up. I made a silly mistake and they ended up making visible holes up the side, but it's ok it just looks like a design feature!

Don't wear this one so much any more, it's a bit old and tatty. But I certainly got a lot of use out of it, it was great for casual beach days!

(writing this up made me want to make another one. dammit.)

purl soho criss cross top

I made the criss cross top pattern a few years ago on my lk-150 knitting machine. I converted it to knit flat and match my gauge using knit picks cotlin.

The ribbing and cable are hand manipulated, which involves changing the orientation of stitches (purls to knits) and moving the individual stitches to different needles on the needle bed. It was pretty tricky to do the big 9x9 cable cross on the machine because it couldn't stretch the yarn across the needle distance. I ended up hand sewing shut the large holes on either side when I did the finishing.

I think it came out nice, but I don't really wear sleeveless tops. It just hangs out in my closet collecting dust. :)

Craggy Shore socks in CoBaSi

Craggy Shore socks in CoBaSi. Non-wool sock yarn means handknit socks year round.

I love this theme idea, and I'm hoping to see this community grow!
