Stag do coming up in Krakow, anything I should know?
I've read stuff on Reddit in the past about people charging your card multiple times or other general dodginess. I think I'll try not to get too drunk as one defence but being informed would be useful too. Anyone got some tips?
I am Polish but I have not lived in Poland for long time. There are some comments of people being scammed etc. which I have no reasons to doubt.
However, on the other hand, UK stag dos in Poland (especially in Krakow) are notorious for being a nuisance for the locals. I feel like as long as you and your mates behave like just a decent bunch lof lads without causing disturbances and issues and are careful of potential scams (which would be easier of course if you are not absolutely wasted and/or drugged) then you should have a great night. Which I hope you do as Kraków is a great city, in fact if you have time to actually walk around and visit it I would strongly recommend it.
Have fun!
EDIT: If you need help with anything Polish related while you are there hit me up.
It's a little while since I was in Poland, but I imagine some things are still the same. The police are heavy-handed. Beat up, throw in cell, ask questions later type of heavy-handed. I saw this on various occasions, to what we would call 'drunk and disorderly'. I wasn't in many touristy areas, so no idea if they are more laid-back for tourists. Saying that, in Oświęcim (The town that has Auschwitz on its outskirts) I saw a group of incredibly drunk Germans (They couldn't stand) thrown in a police van, it took seconds. Loud bang as they were thrown forcibly in the van. Had they done more than just being drunk? I don't know. Was this something to do with the area? Again, I don't know. I wouldn't get too drunk. Beyond that, the people are wonderful. Had a great time. Just don't think the police are the same as here.
I feel like being drunk is absolutely fine, since Poles do it to. In addition, Kraków has a big student population so people are used to going out, etc.
As long as people don't get raudy and disturbe others with their shouting on the streets and causing annoyance I am sure you will be perfectly fine and have a great time.
I have never been but I did hear a story on a podcast recently about a guy that got drunk in a strip club.
The Matron or whatever kept coming over every now and again with a shot of vodka for him and urging him to drink it, then charged him on his card for it.
Every single time she was charging him for a round of drinks for all the girls, at £250 a time.
