Questions regarding installation

Hey guys, I have 2 questions:

  1. Is it possible to install while having secure boot enabled?
  2. Is it possible to install (including the boot loader thing) on a specified drive? I want to be able to "dual boot" manually via BIOS setting of the startup drive, so I don't have to mess up windows 11 installation on it's drive and don't want to have to fix mbr or whatever it's called right now.

    1. No, Pop won't even boot. Secure boot has to be disabled for installation and to run Pop.
    2. You can select any drive you want. There is no MBR anymore in UEFI systems btw. Use the custom installation and follow instructions or see a video, but it's as simple as creating the partitions where you want. If unsure, just disconnect the drive with Windows and install automatically.
    • Not sure if the installer would run, you may have to disable secure boot just for that. But you can run Pop with secure boot although there is no built in support. You will have to sign the kernel yourself everytime there's a new version.
    • Yes, from the custom install option you can set up the partitions however you like on the drives you select. If you don't want to overwrite the Windows drive by mistake, you can physically disconnect it before installing Pop.
    1. yes, you can definitely specify which drive you want to install Pop_OS on. i currently do a dual boot on my PC between windows for gaming and everything else on Pop.
  • There will eventually be SecureBoot-compatible images, but today is not that day.
