Steam games just won't launch

Hey all, I'm completely new to Linux gaming, so bare with me.

I have my proper graphics card drivers installed and have Steam up and ready to go. When I press "Launch" on a game, the button changes to "Stop", signalling that the game has started, but I don't see anything. There is no new Window or anything that I can click on. This happens on both the .deb file provided by the Steam website and Steam downloaded via the Linux Software Store.

I have tried verifying the game files integrity, but that didn't do anything. I also tried reinstalling the game and Steam.
