Stew Peters is a far-right virulently anti-LGBTQ bigot who regularly uses his nightly “The Stew Peters Show” program, speeches, and social media accounts to promote white nationalists and antisemites and to spread wild conspiracy theories, …
It is hypocritical to claim to be the party of law and order when you support sedition, the interference of elections, and violence against political enemies.
Also, the dude is a troll, if the name didn’t give it away.
Right. So he can advocate for overthrowing the government and then we you call him out on it, he can say, "Hahaha! You're an idiot for believing me!" And then he'll happily watch as others overthrow the government should it come to that.
There is overlap between this trope and emotional abuse.
It's the same thing.
You can try to sell me whatever you want, honestly. But that's fundamentally different from exercising your supposed free speech any platform to advocate the violent overthrow of the government.
Oh. You mean revolting? Not the playful rhetoric of violence leading up to it.
Yeah, no, actual revolution is never as clean as anyone wants it to be. And a bunch of innocent people that just want to live their lives get caught up in someone's bitch ass feelings being hurt.
I don't support revolution, no, communist or otherwise. But these violence adoring fascists with ironic names and quirky messages of sedition can get bent too. That's all I'm saying.
I deleted my other response to give a more detailed one now that I have the time.
So why post this here and not /politics?
This is the conservative community, and this article is about conservatism. That alone means that this article is relevant. Additionally, this article was already posted at c/politics, so there would be no point making a second post there. Third, there is sentiment amongst conservatives that democrats are authoritarians instead of republicans, and articles like these clearly show the opposite. I had a whole conversation about /u/10a about this exact sort of thing.
Also, the dude is a troll
I'm not. Just because somebody disagrees with you doesn't mean that they are a troll. If you want to know what a troll looks like, then look no further than the guy that got banned the other day for telling people to shoot themselves for being democrats.
if the name didn’t give it away.
I just couldn't think of a name tbh. And conservatives have a habit of shooting/killing/calling for the death of political opponents (see quote above), so I had no intention of using an identifiable name.
Responding to your other comment here
it’s not really suited here
"A community to discuss conservative politics and views." is the purpose of this community. This article is about conservitve politics and views. I don't know what else to tell you.
And every time you do, all my posts get buried for the next few days.
If your ideas cannot survive in the free market of ideas, then that is on you.
And double regardless, shit like this within conservatism should be a giant red flag no matter what subsection of conservatism is saying it. Being "ironically" racist is racist, similarly being "ironically" fascist is still fascist. /u/PeepinGoodArgs has explained this very well.
That second link is from a court case, which presumably would have his actual name. And again, I don't care too much if he is a troll or not. The fact that conservatives embrace him at all is a problem.
Red flag for what exactly?
For conservatism. I'm sure you've heard this quote before, "If there's a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, then you got a table with 11 Nazis." This guy may not be a literal Nazi, but he is waving the flag of fascism for one reason or another, and he is quite successful in the right wing sphere from what I can tell.
Yeah, because if there is one thing fascists have been historically known for, it's been pro-communism. In case it wasn't clear, that was a joke, fascists put communists to death.
Tankies are terrible, but nowhere near as big of a problem. This isn't a both sides issue.
