I ended my month and a half daily streak yesterday. Just felt right. Today's shave was nice, especially since I got to use my AA prize from /u/cowzilla3. The Paragon brush is very nice. They say it's a 28mm, but it looks smaller than my 26mm G5C. Still, I was very impressed after the first use. I decided to tub load and face lather today, both things I typically don't do. I was under hydrated my first pass, but rectified the situation on pass 2 and 3. Overall, a very good shave today in the DFS category.
Post Shave: Saponificio Varesino - 70th Anniversary - Aftershave
Post Shave: Thayers - Lavender - Toner
Fragrance: Saponificio Varesino - 70th Anniversary - Eau de Parfum
3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
Last night I took this razor back to the Jnat and worked it until I saw the edge moving water in the way I expect. Today's edge does not appear much different from yesterday's edge. They both tested the same for sharpness so, after honing, I stropped this edge a little less than yesterday's.
While this is most likely confirmation bias, I felt more of the feathery magic of the Fili 14 today than I did yesterday. The shave result is the same as yesterday's but I certainly enjoyed this shave more, knowing that I've done all I could do.
Brush: Craving Shaving Blue Bronze 26mm Crave Knot
Razor: Chiseled Face Legacy (Aluminum)
Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [20]
Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Samhain - Soap
Post Shave: MacDuffs Soap Company - Haunted Cabin - Aftershave (Alcohol Free)
Fragrance: Declaration Grooming - Darkfall - Eau de Parfum
It's hard to go wrong with such a great scent like Samhain. The pumpkin from Samhain paired well with the pumpkin from Haunted Cabin. I have to say though, upon applying the AS, I was getting the smell of fresh kettle corn. A little unexpected, but not bad at all. Finalized everything with Darkfall.
Razor: Koraat Sparschweinchen (7/8″, “Sheffield-style” full hollow, carbon steel)
Lather: Stirling Soap Co. – Port-Au-Prince
Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. – Vetiver
I gave the Schweinchen's edge a refresh before it goes out on loan. It was in good shape already, so just a few laps on the 10k and a bit of the loaded strop.
The refreshed edge is smooth and I had a nice second luxury shave with Port-au-Prince. I think you'll enjoy it, @[email protected] 😉
After quite some time without Ishtar, a reunion with one of my favorite soaps. Due to a reaction with the aluminum container, I had to transfer the soap to a plastic container, and when I opened it today, it looked a bit spongy and grainy. The quality of the soap doesn't seem to have suffered much, as far as I can remember. The shave was very nice, and the scent is really great!
As far as shaving goes, there are two areas on the chin and under the mouth that I shave with my left hand, and where there's a perceivable difference between the left side (BBS) and the right side (less close). I will have to work on these areas.
