How many of you use a custom ROM on your phone?

Running GrapheneOS and it is very stable and reliable.

I use LineageOS for years now, it works great but I should finally redo my install with Magisk and MicroG, some things that depend on root permissions and Google services would be kind of nice even tho I don't really need them. Still, once you got used to a custom ROM phones without one seem fucking unusable, all that bloat and shit is just plain terrible!

"Downgrading" from a Samsung S22 Ultra 128gb to Pixel 7a, planning to run Graphene on it.

I used LineageOS for years on my OnePlus 3, and once that stopped getting updates, I snagged a Pixel 5a and immediately put CalyxOS on it. Both have been great experiences.

I used all sorts of ROMs but like op I've also gone lineage although I am considering a pure Linux phone, once the tech and foundation are more stable as my trust for google has gone down considerably with they're brazen walled garden approach in recent years, safety-net (soon to be discontinued as hackers/modders have found work a rounds , and another implementation will soon be added if not already.. I don't keep up to date) and other such tactics are going to make the custom ROMs and rooting very difficult and I joined the team android for its openness but google are constantly implementing APIs and "features" and all of a sudden I'm unable to access the apps that had worked perfectly before. But anyway fuck google. Go team foss

LineageOS with microg. Running now since over a year. The last upgrade from 18 to 20 was a bit of a hustle, as i had to upgrade my TWRP. So far i'm quite satisfied. The only thing that bugs me is, that i cannot use paid-apps from thr google store. I don't always find an open source alternative fromF-Droidm.

I'm not sure if /e/ solves this problem i a better way. Was thinking about migrating to /e/. But, als LOS was running quite ok, i did not bother.

I do and did this with all my previous phones. Unfortunately, it comes with so many obstacles nowadays like non-working banking apps, that I'm unsure how the future of custom roms looks like. If I need to buy a new phone, I'll pick one with good custom rom support and a cheap second one just for the banking stuff.

Lineage with MicroG, too. Been using it for years. I love buying phones for less than 100€ and use them until they are dead. OsmAnd, Syncthing, Keepass, NewPipe, DavX5, Neo- and Aurora Store are so good. Banking works fine after hiding Magisk but I can't get Deutsche Bahn app to work, so I still buy my tickets offline. Not big of a deal. I really love my setup, it took some time to finetune, but it feels great to use a 95% FLOSS phone.

I've been doing this since the WinMo days. I recently went back to stock for my banking app with the latest 13 ROM, but I still have a 2016 Samsung tab a running great on the latest lineage, it saves so many older devices.

I'm currently on a niche Vanilla Custom ROM. My device is fairly new (came out in the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022, I bought it in the first half of 2022) and is quite niche (mid-range Xiaomi device). As such, it doesn't have proper official support for many ROMs, but some people on a Telegram channel have gathered together to build Custom ROMs for this device. I have MicroG but don't use it because I haven't configured it properly. If LineageOS for MicroG ever becomes available for it, I would switch to that, so I have MicroG properly configured. The thing is, the people there don't care about privacy, they are tinkerers only.

I have been using custom roms since my first android device but the my current one(zenfone 10) cant be unlocked because they havent released the unlock tool for it...

I started with CyanogenMod on my Google G1 and have never stopped.

i've been using custom ROMs for a long time. In the last years i also replaced GApps with MicroG Currently i'm using LineageOS for MicroG

I chose a new phone based on its LineageOS support. I only booted the original OS once before installing LOS. Been running smoothly for 5 years now.

crDroid on Samsung Galaxy s10. Running it for 4 months so far and overall I'm really happy. Sometimes I get Problems with high Battery drain and I haven't figured out what the root cause is. But a quick restart fixes the problem and it happens max once a week, so I can live with it.

Pixel Experience Plus on a Galaxy Tab A8.

I broke a data pin on my current phone so it only has the stock ROM with F-Droid.

My new phone is a Xiaomi that I don't use enough for Xiaomi to allow me to unlock the bootloader, so also stock ROM with F-Droid for that one until I actually start using it. Once I get the bootloader unlocked, I'll put Graphene OS on it.

Pixel 4, using a personal signed build of LineageOS with user build type (instead of userdebug, so no root) with gapps included.

I have some F-Droid apps installed, but there's not an available lineageOS' rom for my phone yet.

Graphene OS on my pixel 6. All my banking apps work. I have Droidify (f-droid), the aurora store, and the play store installed.

Some apps on the play store say they don't support my phone, but I can install them from the aurora store if I have it report my actual phone model.

Using Lineage on my PX 5 and couldnt be happier
