Reminds me of this moment I really enjoyed years ago, but didn't take a picture at the time.
A very early morning
No one in the street
The whole city still slumbers
It's raining
Puddles at your feet
Smells of ozone and earthworms
Leaning on a wall and smiling
Still not a soul in sight
Hey I'm not a poet, it doesn't have to rhyme alright
Dawn comes like clockwork
Like those late for work
Robots that huddle and shiver
All hurrying somewhere dry
Only one loving this water
Until a stranger comes by
This one not looking down
Someone else living in the present
Both nodding in agreement
Silent yet sharing the moment
In my beautiful old town
Seriously though, thanks for reminding me of that morning. Should have taken a picture then, but I was too busy doing nothing. Same kind of vibe but more cobblestones.
This was fucking beautiful. And hey you might not have taken a digital picture, but your mind seems to have preserved this in an arguably even better way!
Thanks,
It was a very calm and serene moment in an otherwise hectic part of my life.
Hell, I'd usually be one the people in a hurry to get somewhere, but once in a while I'd get downtown really early and have breakfast there before anything wakes up.
There's something grounding about taking the role of an observer for a bit. I do that sometimes when I vacation somewhere. In itself, stuff that's utterly uninteresting like the shopkeeper unlocking his shop, sweeping his porch. In my normal beat, that's something that wouldn't even register, background noise in the buzzing city life.
Hard to describe, like watching the bees work instead of being one for a change.
