They just casually drop Swerve vs Tanahashi on us for Collision. That popped on screen and my kid and I just looked at each other like "did we really just see that"?
Super fun show, moved fast and had a lot to build but did a great job of creating interest.
I think it was one of the best shows I've seen in a while, and they've been putting out some really good ones lately. I can't describe it, but something about their storytelling is far more compelling right now. I know when AEW isn't hot, it feels sometimes like they're mailing it in with most of the stories on the show, just doing good matches then interrupted interviews all show, but they've got a good variety and storylines that actually make you want to tune in right now.
Also, Eddie Kingston is an absolute top-5 promo of all time, I don't care if that sounds ridiculous given some of the competition out there in the 'all-time' category. Nobody matches his pure emotion and ability to make you fully believe that he believes every word he's saying.
Awesome show. Great to get an Eddie Kingston promo again.
It was rather conspicuous that The Elite only appeared in a pre-tape since Punk was in the building. I guess that's the status quo going forward. I gotta wonder what they feel about that; it's gotta hurt having to tiptoe around Punk's ego in the company they founded, which is named after them.
I hope that the Elite/Punk stuff is actually resolved backstage, otherwise this whole thing will blow up eventually. I feel like the Bucks and Omega have been around enough carnies to know how to navigate the situation but who knows.
Maybe I'm naive or hopeful that it's all a work, but Punk is on the Forbidden Door card. I almost feel like we'll have our answer after Forbidden Door.
The Counterfeit bucks line was pre-approved and he didn't really throw any shade at Omega.
It just feels like everything about this is ultra particular. I don't doubt there is probably some animosity but even the I'm not supposed be here line feels too on the nose.
The Gunns looked awesome, glad they got to do their revolving camera entrance thing again.
Stat needs to lean into the momma's home thing more, it totally suits her character.
The lads really sold like death for Murder Grandpa, you could see them all lovingly ragdolling his every strike, and some of their scared reactions to him were hilarious. Same vibes
