[META] Hey @news subscribers, I'm adding some automatic news feeds in new magazines!
Hey @news subscribers, just wanted to let you know I'm still planning on throwing links I find interesting on this magazine still.
That being said, we have NEWS about the instance! (I know, I know, the pun sounded better in my head)
I'm starting to set up some content aggregate bots but I'm giving them their own dedicated magazines for people to subscribe to. The first one I have set up is @npr_news All you have to do is subscribe to the magazine as per usual and the bot should populate the magazine with new news stories every 2 hours.
To start with, I only have the bot cross posting stuff from NPR's general news feed. I have a list of candidates I'm looking at for additional articles to pull in: Climate, Economy, National, Science, World, National Security, and Wages. I didn't want to enable all of those feeds at once and drown out the magazine so I'll slowly add one at a time in.
All of the posts will be tagged accordingly:
[Article Name] - NPR [News Category]
e.g.:
The search intensifies for the missing submersible as underwater noises are detected - NPR [National]
I will likely spend some time adding AP News, NYT, and WSJ magazines with their own bots as well. Please let me know if there are any additional publications I should consider or if you have any feedback!
Thank you! I’m wanting to get the various news bots up and running first on their own magazines. Then I will likely jump into the kbin code and work on a multi-subreddit feature to combine it all together. Baby steps though, right? NPR bot is slowly getting more feeds added to it and it’s adding more posts to its magazine.
P.S. if you have any more feedback, definitely let me know! I want this to be a cool community we build stuff around. Now that I know how to write a new bot for kbin, I should be able to do the same for just about any other content out there
