Me: I never use official reddit app ever since I procure my phone 2 years ago, Using infinity is my first choice in browsing reddit in mobile, stealth is the second but I love infinity that I go back using it, in desktop I use teddit.net but if I want to post I use the official website on Firefox with uBlock Origin to deter the ads and trackers, now I'll never go back on reddit if their decision is final to charge developers for their API, because Infinity, Stealth and Teddit devs probably will shutdown as they are only solo/small teams that just want to make the digital world a better place they can't pay for api donating to them will only do good for a short time as the API is fucking expensive and breaks the rule of FOSS philosophy
this excludes Apollo and other Close Source software that uses reddit's api though as I never use it so I can't say things about them
I made an account here already just in case the subreddits I'm subscribed to permanently makes their subreddit on private, or their mods get replaced. I know r/twosentencehorror is going dark indefinitely, and a couple of other mods from other subreddits has said that they won't go back on public by June 14 if nothing changes.
I primarily use reddit on PC (old reddit + RES + uBlock Origin specifically), so I don't think the whole API thing would really affect me directly, but it will affect a lot of mods and other users. I really hope people don't just forget about this whole thing after a week.
And also, that whole AMA was a clusterfuck lmao. spez only responded to 14 questions, and the other 3 only responded 2-3 each. Most, if not all, weren't even answers. spez was doubling down on the whole "Apollo dev lying/tried to blackmail us" thing too. Yikes.
r/Videos mod/mods subreddit will shutdown on June 11th and will remain shut until reddit changes decision which is a huge blow to the platform and if they get replace they're planning to migrate to Tilde
As a pro privacy and piracy I'm strictly against ads bat eto namang lemmy donation based lang nabubuhay naman atsaka yung jerboa na gawa mismo din nang gumawa ng lemmy nanghihingi siya ng donation pag unang bukas lang hindi na uulit-ulit pa di gaya ng ads na segu-segundo meron nanaman
I use RIF on mobile, and on the desktop, RES and old.reddit.com. Would have been blissfully unaware of this shitstorm had not for an announcement not just from RIF, but also from RES about their impending demise.
I looked around to find alternatives, but since the ideals of the Fediverse appealed to me, and that I've already had a Mastodon account, I gravitated towards Lemmy.
To be fair, however, this is a pretty promising alternative (ignoring the political leanings of the devs and all).
Nandito yong favorite subreddit ko or community na ba tawag dito. I was in lemmy.ml kasi akala ko yong c/Philippines don ay equivalent sub sa r/Philippines then na realize ko na napaka left leaning in general.
If hindi allowed maka rebuke yong ibang side di yan democrasya kundi diktatoryal.
It seems that I don't have a life and I can't live without this group lol.
I also use Infinity for Reddit on my phone and use Firefox with uBlock Origin when browsing on my PC. I am still open to just use the web version. Firefox Mobile has uBlock Origin too.
Started using Apollo for Reddit when I shifted to iPhone. I noticed na grabe makadrain ng battery ko yung OG Reddit app kaya nagApollo ako. When I tried using the OG app again napansin ko na napakakalat nga pala ng OG, nakakadistract.
Reddit fucked their mobile web, even using uBlock on my Firefox Mobile. They forced us to use their bloatware, intrusive app.
Even their redesigned Reddit desktop web is fucked. I was hoped new Redditors never experience these bullshitteries, but unfortunately spez (fuck u/) is unstoppable, and he can lie (watch out old.reddit shutdown)
Chromium and Firefox mobile browsers are equally the same, atleast on my mid-range Android device. I've been using Firefox both PC and mobile since 2016 pa, and yes, before it was shite. Seeing it improving over the years is really telling.
