All I know is these things are delicious.
The white ones are generally consumed in a dessert soup thing and the black ones are stir fried and served in like hot and sour soup.
I see you can get them on amazon but i cant bring myself to purchase them there. Im trying to make whatever the fuck the mushroom dessert soup is

Here's a little blog post about the soup. My mom used to whip this up when I was a kid; reminds me of home :)
Not sure where you're from, but you can find them dried in bags at any Asian supermarket in the western US. Just gotta head to where all the dried goods are.
To actually cultivate the thing, I wouldn't be able to tell ya x)
