I haven't watched hentai in a while (since late 90s, early 2000s). I primarily remember the more conspicuous, taboo content that probably drew more attention of foreign audiences: incest, rape, tentacles, pedophilia, coprophilia, gore, vore, etc. I'm sure there was much gentler stuff too, but taboo seemed to get the most reaction.
