Geoengineering our way out of this hole is way more likely to worsen the situation, if the environmental effects of almost every large scale engineering project is checked.
Of course the alternative is changing lifestyle, so fucking up the environment is gonna it I guess.
The real alternative is to restructure our incentives systems (i.e. capital market regulations), but that's the absolute last thing that will ever happen. Carbon taxes are a step in that direction but are still just a tiny bandaid on a gaping wound.
