Hello! Same! I messaged the r/kdrama mods to ask why they made a decision to not join in the blackout (I was surprised they didn't even put it to a vote to their community) and I think they reported me for harassment 🙄
The only subreddits I'm missing are kdrama and koreanvariety but even if I go back to Reddit just for those two subreddits I'll have a strong distaste for the mods of r/kdrama (not just because of this but the way they conduct themselves gives off holier than thou/condescending vibes to me)
What kdramas are you currently watching? I've just started Lies Hidden in My Garden and Delightfully Deceitful (kinda losing interest), and King the Land. Seems like quite a few now that I've written them all down but this is the first time in quite a few months I've watched some kdramas. The past few dramas airing post-The Glory didn't catch my eye.
Thinking about giving See You in My 19th Life a go because I read the webtoon but we'll see.
Finally, another user! So happy there are 2 of us now lol!
For some reason, the imgur link wouldn't load on my phone's browser. But not surprised with your impression of them. In my experience, they always seem to be more of a rule follower, and a very rigid one at that. Not sure if it's because the top mod works with law enforcement, though not as a law enforcement officer themself.
I still use Reddit on my third party app. If none of the third party apps work after this month, I'll probably go on Reddit much less. Lemmy has been great, but none of the communities I care the most are here. This community being one of them.
I need to check out Lies Hidden in My Garden, it's been mentioned often. Hopefully it's not of a makjang variety! Was Delightfully Deceitful boring? I feel that way towards King The Land, but still want to give it more chance. Loving See You in My 19th Life atm! I've seen people who've read the webtoon commenting that the drama stays true to the source so far and they like it too. Although apparently some things are not explained that well in the drama yet? But, it's early days and it's definitely the better drama out of the two I watch atm (King The Land being the other one).
Wow I didn't know the top mod was in the law enforcement field, but makes sense why things feel so rigid/military like..
I agree, the subs I interacted with the most were the Korean ones, the more 'laypeople' ones that are much less likely to care about the blackout/API fiasco so I'm losing those communities. I haven't yet used any mobile apps for Reddit since the blackout (previously used infinity) but yeah once the third parties stop working 😭
I'm really liking Lies Hidden in My Garden! Don't think I used my phone once during the first two eps. Hmm Delightfully Deceitful is ok, I think I just went on my phone while it was on and the plot went on without me so I'm just not that invested in it anymore. Will probably still watch though.
King the Land, I've kinda already forgotten since watching 😅 so not that much of a stand out. 19th Life is good, it is staying quite true to the webtoon, I'm loving how they kept Ju Won's very very blunt 'romantic' approach to Seo Ha. (Although I feel like I maybe did not notice how kinda stalker-y she was being in the webtoon and it was clearer when they actually show scenes of her following him around as a kid 😂)
You found us! Welcome to our tiny community! Yea this one was apparently created 2 years months ago? Doesn't look like it's on lemmy, probably on kbin mastodon. I'm still on both reddit and here (oh and discord too, keep forgetting I'm also there!) because my 3rd party app still works, but probably not for long.
Feel free to post any drama related posts here! The goal is to get people talking so our community can grow (so we can go back to lurking lol).
Edit: found the source on mastodon! Created April this year. Weird thing is I couldn't see lemmy posts on mastodon, and apparently plenty of users on mastodon had been tagging the community as well but doesn't show up here at all.
I wanna come here often! However, my lemmy instance (lemmy.world) and/or client (Connect) is laggy and buggy at the moment. I can't see replies to my comments and it takes minutes for a comment to be submitted. I'm hoping that would be resolved in a few weeks after the mass migration from reddit.
Hello! I was hoping we could move over to lemmy.ml's kdrama community to combine our users. But it looks like we're all still quite comfortable over here somehow lol.
I'm watching both too, but enjoying 19th Life a bit more. I do think KTL feels easier to watch, and loved seeing the prince's character and those other drama references lol.
I'm here! Thanks for getting this going. Looking forward to finding some more K dramas to watch. ☺️ I've been writing everything down in a keep notes list.
I've been watching King The Land and See You in My 19th Life the past week, and probably adding Numbers this week as well. I liked 19th Life much more than King, but still keen to follow the romance in King as I liked their chemistry after watching them here.
Right now I'm watching Alchemy of Souls. I started it over a year ago and life got in the way. Finally able to pay attention and I love it. Thank you for the other recs!
And now another subscriber :-)
A bit late to the party; i have been doing searches for kdrama instances, but nothing popped up until the lemmy update.
Glad to have found one now. There is another one too, but it only has one post: !kdrama, i think on lemmy.world
Welcome! There are 4 of us now! Yea the one on chirp.social is the only kdrama community I found, but there was no post before this. I'm still trying out different lemmy apps on Android, but for some reason this one appears as [email protected] as well. Is it because that's my instance (lemmy.world) and I created the first post? Anyway, this is still pretty new to me so will have to find out more.
How's Again, My Life? That's the one with Lee Joon Ki, right?
I think many people have multiple lemmy apps on android, i'm no exception. But i found it through lemmy's website. Now lemmy has updated, the search function seems to work better.
Political dramas are something i avoid if american. But somehow, kdramas make it interesting. This one has the tiniest little fantasy premise (hence the title).
So, i'm currently watching the final episode, yes with Lee Joon Ki, and i'm on the edge of my seat.
I also love the cast.
A few months ago i took a subscription for Viki rakuten, because i can't get enough of kdramas. I also fell in love with the language.
