Given the amount of pull individual influencers have managed to amass over the last decade, it looks like the original 1985 prediction aged better than this 2009 rebuttal.

Eh, most political streamers are just entertainers that engage in political action or speech. Locke and demosthenes eventually won office through their eloquent writing. H3 for example has a pretty big following, but his engagement with political topics is often Joe rogan level "woah that's crazy" with no substance. He did do well in debates after coaching, but still leaves a lot to be desired.
Let me know when he or destiny or someone wins an election.

But they use that pull to sell cheap Chinese drop-ship products, not affect real change in the world.
