This week in FreeCAD development: Toponaming: mostly bugfixing and code refactoring. 8 pull requests from bgbsww and chennes fixed 9 reported issues including 3 release blockers. The toponaming PRs…
Issue stats: overall, there are 1852 open issues in the tracker, down by 14 from last week. 26 of them are v1.0 release blockers, down by 14 from last week as well.
Seems they worked with RealThunder to incorporate his fix in a scalable way, yes. Also cleaned up the UI somewhat (it's still FreeCAD, though), and they've finally settled on a default Assembly workbench. Once they squash those last bugs and finish their testing, they claim it's ready for 1.0.
I really gotta work on learning the workflows. I am so used to Solidworks at this point I have a hard time thinking of a different way of doing things.
I used the weekly dev version and still had some issues seemingly with it. Had a hole operation that couldn't find "?Edge1" and had to redo all the refferences. No idea if it was just a bug or me doing sth weird tho.
IIRC, unless you're designing for machining, FreeCAD usually behaves nicer if you use pockets versus holes. Wouldn't be surprised if a TNI bug persists longer in the hole tool, but on the other hand, I'm halfway talking out of my ass here.
