I think modern conservatism is in a bit of an identity crisis at the moment. In a lot of places, "being conservative" is repeating Trump's lines and lies. The "Big Lie" is still part of several states official GOP platform. I think until conservatives both distance themselves from Trump and define what exactly being conservative means now, it's doomed to be stuck in this identity limbo.
I pray for the day when society can move past Trump. He's fun to watch, but he's so narcissistic and abrasive that he's also irritating. The media and people on social media don't help either since they "hate" him so much they can't stop talking about him.

I don't really see how 'the media' can be blamed for this. I get that watching a dude shit himself would eventually get old in general (for most people it would get old immediately), but when it's the current or former President, the saturation level for watching him shit himself is so high that I can understand why it's hard to avoid mentioning it.
Conservatives, liberals, mainstream media, and social media all play a part. I don’t think I can blame any one group; maybe social media is the worst offender since it has the most reach. And yeah, he is the former president and current presidential candidate so he’s gonna draw clicks and views, so I see the incentive.
