What phone file explorer do you recommend and why?

I use MiXplorer because of its features although it is slow because it doesnt cache or index the files

Been using FX for years on Android. Does what I need.
For Android, Amaze is the best open source file explorer I have used. Back when I didn't care about open source, I liked Solid Explorer.
- Even though I'm a Solid Explorer user, I agree with you. Amaze is really good. I'm a stingy SOB so I'm sticking with Solid Explorer since I bought it. I know that makes no sense. There's no logic in feelings.
Solid Explorer 2 for Android. Been using the it for many years.
I use X-Plore. it has two panes that you can swipe between and it got an archive manager and an app manager. also root.
